Privacy Policy
Effective October 11, 2026
Hey Veylo collects no data. It has no internet access, no camera or microphone access, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code. Nothing you do with Veylo is sent anywhere.
What Stays on Your Mac
Veylo saves only a few small preferences, in its own sandboxed storage on your Mac, using the standard macOS preferences system. They are small values such as switches, dates, and times, and none of them ever leaves your Mac:
- Your Settings choices: Always Show, Wake-Up Hellos, Little Scenes, and Trackpad Taps.
- Whether you turned on Open at Login, and where the app was on your Mac when you did, so it can sign itself up again if the app is moved or renamed. macOS keeps the login item itself, in System Settings under Login Items.
- Whether Veylo has opened before, so Settings opens by itself only the first time.
- The day of your most recent visit, so the first hello of each day can be a special one.
- Which of today’s small day moments have played, and which version of a moment it showed last, so each plays at most once a day and they take turns.
- The last night it asked why you were still up, and the last night it said good night, so each happens at most once a night.
- Up to seven recent dates when it was out between 1 and 4 AM, so it can recognize a fellow night owl.
- When its scenes played over about the last day, and its last three secret-life acts, so they stay rare and don’t repeat.
- The day you first caught it in the act, and when its first peek out the window may come.
- The days you played with it since it last asked for an App Store rating, and the version it last asked in, so it asks at most once a version and only after you have played with it on three different days.
What Veylo Notices While It Runs
To react to you, Veylo looks at a few things in the moment. They are used on the spot and are never saved or sent:
- Where the pointer is, so its eyes can follow it, it can respond to boops, pets, and tickles, and it can pounce.
- How many seconds it has been since you last used the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad, and since your last key press, click, or scroll, so it knows when you have stepped away or are busy. It never sees which keys you press, and it needs no special permission for this.
- Whether your Mac is charging, and when it wakes, locks, unlocks, starts a screen saver, or switches desktops.
- Whether your Mac is set to Light or Dark, so it can greet a sunrise or sunset.
- The time of day and the day of the week, from the clock on your Mac.
- Whether an app is in full screen, so a drawn notch can step aside and Veylo doesn’t peek out the window or pop out for a sunset or sunrise over it. It checks only the size and position of windows, never what is in them.
- On a screen without a notch, whether the menu bar hides itself.
- Whether Reduce Motion is turned on in Accessibility settings. When it is, Veylo never opens the notch by itself to peek out the window.
What Veylo Does Not Do
- It does not connect to the internet. The app is not allowed network access.
- It does not use the camera or the microphone, and it does not record the screen.
- It does not read what you type.
- It does not track you, show ads, or include analytics or any third-party code.
- Trackpad Taps only play feedback on your trackpad. They read nothing from it.
Diagnostic Notes
Like many Mac apps, Veylo writes short technical notes, such as where the notch is on the screen, to the system log on your Mac. They stay on your Mac. If you have chosen to share crash data with app developers in System Settings under Privacy & Security, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to the developer. You can turn that off there at any time.
Children’s Privacy
Veylo does not collect information from anyone, including children.
